about dora
What is Dora?
Dora is a daily powdered nutritional supplement formulated for women. One scoop a day brings together collagen, hyaluronic acid, a complete B-complex, magnesium, vitamins D3 and K2, zinc, selenium, live cultures, fiber, and greens. 41 ingredients divided into five pillars: beauty & skin, gut & digestion, energy & vitality, immune system & antioxidants, and greens & superfoods. The vitamins and minerals in Dora contribute to, among other things, normal energy-yielding metabolism, the normal function of the immune system, and the maintenance of normal skin, hair, and nails.
Why is Dora formulated for women, and not for everyone?
Because most nutritional supplements are formulated for "people," with women as a presumed subgroup. The need for folate, iodine, and B vitamins varies across the menstrual cycle and the fertile years; skin collagen density follows a different curve in women, and thyroid issues are several times more common in women than in men. Dora is built with that as a starting point: folate in the active form L-5-MTHF, selenium and iodine together for the thyroid, a strategy for vitamin A that takes pregnancy into account, and no iron, for reasons we explain below. The entire rationale can be found on the page The Science Behind Dora.
Which products does Dora replace?
Dora is intended to replace what would otherwise become an entire shelf: multivitamin, collagen powder, greens powder, magnesium, vitamin D, live cultures, and fiber supplements. If you are currently taking several of these, you can most likely switch to just one scoop.
Is Dora sufficient as a sole daily supplement?
For most women, yes. Dora is designed as a daily base that covers vitamins, minerals, and ingredients that are difficult to obtain in meaningful amounts through diet alone. If you have a confirmed need for something specific, such as iron due to low ferritin levels, you can add that separately, in consultation with a healthcare provider. And a nutritional supplement never replaces a varied diet.
Why is Dora a powder and not capsules?
Because the amounts would not fit in capsules. Five grams of collagen, one gram of MSM, nearly two grams of fiber, and live cultures in an amount that remains effective throughout the entire shelf life would require about 20 capsules a day. Powder makes it possible to dose according to studies rather than what fits in a tablet, and to mix Dora in water, yogurt, or a smoothie, as you wish.
How does Dora differ from an ordinary multivitamin?
A multivitamin covers basic needs for vitamins and certain minerals, often in the cheapest forms and in doses that look good on the label. Dora goes further in three ways. The forms: methylated B vitamins, folate as L-5-MTHF, and minerals bound to amino acids for absorption and gentleness on the stomach. The doses: set according to studies, such as 5g of collagen, 120mg of hyaluronic acid, 1g of MSM. And the system: vitamin D3 with K2, zinc with copper, selenium with iodine, because nutrients interact, and a multivitamin rarely takes that into account.
Is Dora a medicine?
No. Dora is a nutritional supplement and is classified as a food product. It is not intended to treat, cure, or prevent disease, but to supplement the diet with nutrients in everyday life. If you have a medical condition, are taking medication, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding, we always recommend that you consult a doctor, midwife, or pharmacist before starting.
Is Dora a Swedish brand?
Yes. Dora is a Swedish company based in Stockholm. The product is manufactured in Sweden according to applicable regulations for food and nutritional supplements, and is subject to the Swedish Food Agency's regulations and the municipality's food control.
Who is Dora for?
Women who want to take a holistic approach to their daily nutrition without managing five different jars. Especially if you feel that your diet is not always enough, if you are already buying collagen, greens, or magnesium separately, or if you want a routine that is simple enough to actually stick to. Dora is developed for adult women and is recommended from 18 years of age.
Can men take Dora?
Nothing in Dora is wrong for men; it is a complete daily supplement. However, the doses and choices are made based on women's needs, such as the form of folate and the strategy regarding vitamin A and iron. A man can use Dora; it is just not formulated for him.
Why did we start Dora?
We got tired of the shelf. Collagen for the skin, greens for the vegetables we didn't eat, a multivitamin "just in case," live cultures for the stomach—too many products, too much money, and too many decisions every morning, usually without knowing if the doses were meaningful or if the ingredients counteracted each other. We wanted to make the only nutritional supplement we were looking for ourselves: one scoop, built from the research outwards, formulated for women.
content & ingredients
What does Dora contain?
All 41 ingredients, including their form, quantity, and why we chose each one, can be found on our ingredients page. There, you can also see what percentage of the daily reference intake (DRI) each vitamin and mineral represents. You will find the full nutritional information on the packaging.
Why does Dora contain no iron?
This is the question we receive most often, and it is intentional. The need for iron varies enormously among women, depending on the cycle, diet, pregnancy, and blood donation. Giving iron to someone whose stores are already full provides no benefit, and an excess acts as a pro-oxidant. Furthermore, iron competes with zinc and copper for absorption, which would disrupt the mineral balance in the formula. Iron deficiency is common and worth treating. However, this should be done based on a ferritin value and medical advice, in a dose that actually corrects the deficiency—not invisibly baked into a daily powder at a level too low to help those who need it and too indiscriminate for everyone else. If your ferritin is low, you need iron. You do not need to get it from us.
Which collagen does Dora contain?
Hydrolyzed collagen peptides from bovine sources (bovine collagen), 5 grams per serving. The hydrolysis breaks down the long protein chains into short peptides with low molecular weight, which dissolve cleanly and are easily absorbed. The dose is at the upper end of the range studied for skin, 2.5–5 g per day.
Is Dora vegan or vegetarian?
No. Dora contains bovine collagen and is therefore neither vegan nor vegetarian. The other ingredients are plant-based or synthetic; vitamin D3, for example, comes from lichen, not lanolin.
Does Dora contain allergens?
Dora contains no ingredients with gluten, lactose, milk protein, soy, eggs, nuts, or fish. The barley grass is harvested before the seed forms and does not itself contain gluten, but it may contain traces of oats, and the product is manufactured in a facility where other allergens are handled. Therefore, we do not label Dora as gluten-free. If you have a severe allergy, please contact us so we can go through the contents with you.
Does Dora contain sugar, sweeteners, or caffeine?
There is no added sugar and no caffeine or other stimulants; we chose to exclude those entirely. The sweetness comes from a small amount of steviol glycosides from the stevia leaf (45 mg per serving), the flavor from a natural pink grapefruit aroma, and malic acid provides the fresh tartness.
How does Dora taste?
Light and slightly tart, with pink grapefruit as a clear note and a mild green base from spirulina, chlorella, and barley grass. It is neither a sugary juice nor a grassy green powder, but somewhere in between, designed to be drunk in cold water every day without you getting tired of it.
Does Dora contain both fiber and live cultures?
Yes. The fibers are resistant dextrin (1.5 g) and inulin from chicory (200 mg), a combination chosen to provide a meaningful amount of fiber without the bloating that larger amounts of inulin often cause. The live cultures are five strains – Lactobacillus paracasei, L. plantarum, L. rhamnosus GG, Bifidobacterium breve, and B. bifidum – totaling about 5 billion CFU per serving, in an amount that remains effective throughout the entire shelf life, not just at the time of manufacture. Bromelain, an enzyme from pineapple, is included to support the breakdown of the protein in the formula.
Why vitamin D3 together with K2?
Because they complete the same process. Vitamin D increases the absorption of calcium and drives the production of the proteins that control where the calcium goes, but the proteins need vitamin K to be activated. Vitamin D contributes to the normal absorption of calcium, and vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones. Dora contains 50 µg (2,000 IU) of vitamin D3 and 50 µg of vitamin K2 in the form of MK-7. If you take vitamin D separately today, you can in all likelihood stop doing so.
Why folate instead of folic acid?
Folic acid is synthetic and must be converted in the body before it can be used. That conversion is impaired in the significant portion of the population that carries common variants of the MTHFR gene. L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (L-5-MTHF) is the form that circulates in the blood and requires no conversion. For a product for women of childbearing age, it was an easy decision. Dora contains 400 µg per serving.
Does Dora contain omega-3?
No. Omega-3 is an oil and does not fit into a powder that must remain fresh in the jar, and it requires its own larger dose to be meaningful. If you take omega-3 today, you can continue to do so; they complement each other.
Can I take extra collagen in addition to Dora?
That is fine. Dora contains 5 g, which is the dose used in studies on skin. Collagen is a food protein with no established upper limit and does not compete with Dora's other ingredients.
Can I take Dora if I am already taking magnesium?
Dora contains 100 mg of magnesium in the form of magnesium bisglycinate. EFSA’s upper limit for magnesium from supplements is 250 mg per day, so up to about 150 mg extra fits within that. If you take more today, it is better to reduce your separate supplement, or take it in the evening and Dora in the morning, so the intake is distributed throughout the day.
what can I expect?
When will I notice a difference?
An honest answer: it depends on where you are starting from and what you are looking for. Vitamins and minerals that contribute to normal energy metabolism and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue—the B vitamins, magnesium, and vitamin C—enter the body's metabolism within days to weeks. Skin, hair, and nails renew themselves slowly: a strand of hair grows about a centimeter a month, and the skin renews itself in about four to six weeks. Three months is a reasonable timeframe before you evaluate. Dora is a daily staple, not a temporary treatment; it is consistency that makes the difference.
Does Dora provide more energy?
Dora does not provide an energy boost; there is no caffeine or other stimulants in the formula. What Dora does is supply, every day, the nutrients the body uses to convert food into energy. The entire B complex, magnesium, vitamin C, iodine, copper, and manganese contribute to normal energy metabolism, and vitamins B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, folate, vitamin C, and magnesium contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Coenzyme Q10 is included for its role in the mitochondria, the cells' energy production.
How does Dora affect skin, hair, and nails?
Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal hair and normal skin. Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin, normal hair, and normal nails; selenium to normal hair and normal nails; and vitamin C to normal collagen formation, which is important for the normal function of the skin. Surrounding the approved claims is the beauty layer: 5 g of collagen peptides, 120 mg of hyaluronic acid, and 1 g of MSM, all in doses derived from clinical studies. Skin and hair renew slowly; give it time.
How does Dora affect the stomach?
Dora contains fiber, five live bacterial strains, and the enzyme bromelain—ingredients chosen for the gut ecosystem and for the breakdown of the protein in the formula. The amount of fiber is chosen to be gentle, and the cultures are dosed to remain effective throughout the shelf life. In the beginning, your stomach may need a week or two to adjust.
How does Dora affect the immune system?
Vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, selenium, copper, folate, and vitamins B6 and B12 all contribute to the normal function of the immune system, and vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, selenium, copper, and manganese contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. It is nothing more and nothing less than what is documented: a steady daily intake of the nutrients the immune system depends on.
Is Dora suitable if I work out?
Yes. Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function, normal protein synthesis, and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function, and vitamin C to normal collagen formation, which is important for cartilage and bone. The collagen peptides provide the amino acids that make up connective tissue. Dora does not replace protein powder or electrolytes during intense training, but works well alongside them.
What happens if I stop taking Dora?
Nothing dramatic. A dietary supplement works as long as you take it. If you stop, your body gets its nutrition from your diet as usual, and the intake of the nutrients Dora contributed returns to the level your diet provides. There is no dependency and no "withdrawal."
health, pregnancy & medication
Can I take Dora while pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive?
Dora is formulated with that question in mind: folate as L-5-MTHF at 400 µg, vitamin A at a cautious level split between retinyl acetate and beta-carotene, and no iron that you don't control yourself. However, nutritional needs change during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and certain vitamins and minerals have specific recommendations; for example, the iodine requirement increases more than what Dora covers. Therefore, always consult a midwife or doctor before using Dora if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or actively trying to conceive, and feel free to show them the nutrition label.
Is Dora suitable during menopause?
Many questions regarding menopause revolve around energy, sleep, skin, and bones, and there are several documented contributions in Dora for those areas. Vitamin B6 helps regulate hormonal activity and supports normal psychological function. Vitamins D and K, magnesium, manganese, and zinc help maintain normal bone health. Magnesium helps reduce tiredness and fatigue. Collagen, hyaluronic acid, and MSM make up the beauty layer. Dora is not a treatment for menopausal symptoms; if you have symptoms, speak to a healthcare professional. However, it is a daily foundation that fits well during that period.
Can I take Dora if I have diabetes?
Dora contains no added sugar and is sweetened with stevia, and chromium helps maintain normal blood sugar levels. However, all changes in diet and nutritional intake can affect blood sugar individually. If you are taking medication or insulin: monitor your blood sugar a little extra closely during the first few weeks and consult your diabetes nurse or doctor.
I have IBS or a sensitive stomach – can I take Dora?
Often, if you start carefully. Dora contains fibers and live cultures; inulin is considered a FODMAP, but the amount is small (200 mg), and the dextrin has been chosen to be gentle. Start with half a scoop, preferably with food, and evaluate after a week before increasing to the full dose. If you react strongly to fiber in general, talk to your dietitian or doctor first.
When should I not take Dora without consulting healthcare professionals?
If you are taking prescription medication, have a diagnosed illness (especially thyroid, kidney, or liver disease), are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are already taking other supplements with high doses of vitamins and minerals. Dora is developed for healthy adult women and should be seen as a complement to diet and lifestyle, not as a treatment.
Can I take Dora together with other supplements?
In most cases, yes. Omega-3, protein powder, creatine, and iron (if you have a confirmed need) work well together with Dora. Since Dora already contains a complete B-complex, vitamin D, zinc, selenium, and magnesium, you should be mindful of your total daily intake if you are taking a multivitamin or other supplements with overlapping content. The simple solution is usually to let Dora replace them.
that's how you take dora
How do I take Dora?
Mix one scoop with 200–300 ml of cold water and stir, or shake in a bottle. You can also stir Dora into yogurt or soured milk, or blend it into a smoothie. Do not use hot water; the live cultures and vitamin C cannot withstand heat.
When during the day should I take Dora?
We recommend the morning, preferably with breakfast. This is partly because a routine is best maintained when linked to something you already do, and partly because the B vitamins are better suited for the day than right before bedtime. However, the evening works too. The most important thing is that you take Dora every day, at approximately the same time. Dora can be taken with or without food; if you have a sensitive stomach, take it with food.
What happens if I miss a day?
Nothing. Take your usual scoop the next day and continue as normal. Never take a double dose to compensate. Dora is designed for consistent intake over time, and a missed day makes no difference in the overall picture.
Does Dora break a fast?
Yes, strictly speaking. One serving contains approximately 40 kcal, 5 g of protein, and nearly 2 g of fiber, which breaks a water fast. If you practice intermittent fasting (16:8 or similar), simply take Dora during your eating window, preferably with your first meal of the day.
How should Dora be stored?
Cool, dry, and in a sealed bag; the kitchen cupboard is perfect, a refrigerator is not necessary. Keep the scoop dry so that no moisture gets into the jar, and store it out of reach of small children. The best-before date is on the packaging.
How long does a package last?
30 days at one scoop per day. The subscription is set to 4-week intervals so that the next delivery arrives before the previous one runs out.
quality, safety & research
Where is Dora manufactured, and how is the quality ensured?
Dora is manufactured in Sweden by a manufacturer certified according to GMP / ISO 22000 / HACCP. Each batch is third-party tested for heavy metals and microbiological quality in accordance with current EU requirements. Dora is classified as a food product and is therefore under the supervision of the Swedish Food Agency's regulations and the municipality's food inspectors. The product is registered with the City of Stockholm in accordance with the regulations for dietary supplements.
Is there a risk of overdosing?
Not at the recommended dose. All vitamins and minerals in Dora are within EFSA's limits for safe intake, and where an ingredient is sensitive, such as vitamin A, we have intentionally kept levels low. Do not take more than one scoop per day, and keep track of your total intake if you combine it with other supplements.
Does Dora have any side effects?
Most people tolerate Dora without any issues. Since the formula contains fiber and live cultures, the stomach may react mildly during the first few weeks—a slightly different feeling in the stomach—which usually passes. Riboflavin (vitamin B2) turns the urine bright yellow; this is harmless.
What research is Dora based on?
Every ingredient and dose in Dora is based on published research, from the meta-analysis of 19 controlled collagen studies to the dose-response study showing that 1 g of MSM is sufficient. We have compiled the reasoning, ingredient by ingredient, with 20 references on the page "The Science Behind Dora." That is the page we are most proud of.
Which approved health claims apply to Dora?
Dora contains 20 vitamins and minerals with approved health claims according to the EU register, totaling over 100. Some examples: vitamins C, D, zinc, and selenium contribute to the normal function of the immune system; B vitamins and magnesium to normal energy metabolism; biotin and zinc to the maintenance of normal hair and normal skin; folate to normal blood formation; vitamins D and K to the maintenance of normal bones.
